Christmas in Bressanone is a project shared by the citizens, in which everyone participates: from the master baker to the hotelier, from the gardener to the housewares shop. A Christmas made in South Tyrol – a Christmas that reflects the values of our city: high quality, regionality and, at the same time, modernity and innovation.
The Christmas markets of Bressanone, but most notably, the nativity scenes have a deeply rooted tradition, with a rich history spanning over 800 years. In recent years, the city has proudly showcased numerous nativity scenes, paying homage to this time-honored tradition. The Bishop’s Palace is home to the Nativity Scene Museum, featuring a remarkable permanent private exhibition.
In a place where cattle trading once took place, during the Christmas season, locals and visitors come together to enjoy the typical products of South Tyrol, surrounded by traditional wooden stalls, festively adorned trees, and the backdrop of the cathedral chapter.
Handmade candles, wooden items, South Tyrolean crafts, and natural cosmetics. The Christmas Market once again offers products that have been primarily produced or finished in South Tyrol. Whether you’re looking for gift ideas for friends and family or simply a cozy gathering with homemade mulled wine, variations of canederli, or sweet krapfen, the concept of Bressanone’s Christmas Market, the cultural program with Christmas initiatives planned in collaboration with local associations and institutions, as well as the festively decorated old town, ensure a contemplative Christmas season.
