1. SOG

SOG (Suction on Gas) system, is a marvel of modern engineering for anyone who enjoys the freedom of life on the road in a motorhome. It’s a convenience I can’t imagine a toilet in a motorhome without. This innovative system has completely transformed the way we deal with waste disposal while traveling, making it a clean, odor-free, and eco-friendly experience.

Why is SOG great?

One of the most remarkable aspects of the SOG system is its ability to eliminate the unpleasant odors associated with traditional chemical toilets. The SOG system uses the power of suction and a small ventilation fan to create a constant flow of air from the toilet bowl to the outside environment. This means that even on the hottest summer days or during extended road trips, you won’t have to deal with any unpleasant smells within your motorhome. It’s a breath of fresh air, quite literally!

Another aspect that makes SOG a game-changer for motorhome owners is its ease of use. You can simply empty the waste tank whenever it’s convenient for you, without being tied to the need for chemical additives or special dumping stations. This not only saves time and hassle but also helps you reduce costs since you no longer need to buy or refill chemicals. It’s a significant improvement in terms of both convenience and environmental responsibility.

SOG is Eco friendly

In addition to the practical benefits, using the SOG system also contributes to a more sustainable way of traveling. By eliminating the need for chemicals and their associated environmental impact. You’re making a small but important contribution to preserving the beauty of the natural world you’re exploring. The SOG system is an eco-conscious choice that aligns perfectly with the desire of many motorhome enthusiasts to experience the great outdoors while minimizing their ecological footprint.

In essence, SOG is an indispensable companion for motorhome travelers, offering a clean, odor-free, and eco-friendly solution to one of the more challenging aspects of life on the road. With SOG, you can focus on the joys of exploration and adventure without the inconveniences and environmental concerns that often come with traditional toilet systems. It’s a breath of fresh air, both for your travels and for our planet.

2. Solar panel

Solar panels are the unsung heroes of modern outdoor adventures and life on the road. Their ability to keep your batteries charged consistently is a game-changer for anyone who enjoys off-grid experiences. Even when we return from an exhilarating weekend of skiing, I don’t have to worry about the status of our batteries. Thanks to the solar panels, I can rest assured that by the next weekend, they will undoubtedly be fully recharged, ready to power our various devices and appliances.

Benefits of Solar Panels

One of the many conveniences offered by solar panels is the peace of mind they bring. Gone are the days of anxiously monitoring battery levels and rationing power during our trips. With a reliable solar panel setup in place, we can leave our fridge running without hesitation. The solar panel system takes care of replenishing the energy consumed, ensuring that our food stays fresh, and our beverages remain cold. It’s like having a mini power station on the roof, silently working to maintain the comforts of home in the great outdoors.

Furthermore, solar panels not only provide consistent power but also contribute to a more sustainable and eco-friendly way of traveling. Harnessing the sun’s energy to keep our batteries charged means we’re reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and decreasing our carbon footprint. It’s a small but significant step toward a greener and more responsible approach to adventure and travel.

In essence, the solar panel is a reliable companion that keeps our batteries charged, no matter where our adventures take us. It liberates us from the constraints of limited power and allows us to enjoy the great outdoors without sacrificing the conveniences we’re accustomed to. With solar panels on our side, we can embrace the freedom of off-grid living and revel in the beauty of nature, all while knowing that our power needs are effortlessly met. It’s a truly empowering addition to our outdoor lifestyle.

3. Booster

A booster for motorhoming away from campsites is nothing short of essential for the modern traveler. Its convenience is hard to overstate. Whether you need to make a quick run to the store, want to explore a remote trailhead, or just enjoy the peace and quiet of a secluded spot, having a booster onboard is a game-changer.

The primary advantage of a booster is its ability to rapidly recharge your batteries. In those moments when you need a quick energy boost, whether it’s for appliances, lighting, or simply recharging your devices, the booster steps in seamlessly. You don’t have to worry about finding a hookup or waiting for the sun to shine on your solar panels. It’s like having an instant power source right at your fingertips.

Now, let’s talk about the comparison with an electric generator. While generators can be a solution for power needs, a booster is often the superior choice for motorhome travelers. Generators can be noisy, require fuel, and emit fumes, which can detract from the tranquility of your outdoor experience. In contrast, a booster is quiet, clean, and efficient. It doesn’t disturb the peace of your surroundings, and you won’t need to deal with fuel and maintenance. Plus, it’s a more environmentally friendly option, aligning with the growing trend toward eco-conscious travel.

Having a booster on hand means you’re not only increasing your freedom on the road but also making a sensible choice for a more enjoyable and responsible outdoor adventure. It’s a wise investment that ensures you’re never left in the dark or without power, no matter where your motorhome takes you. So, if you’re contemplating how to enhance your mobile lifestyle, consider a booster – it’s the smart choice for reliable, on-the-go power.

4. Safety box

A safe in your motorhome is an invaluable addition that offers a sense of security and peace of mind that’s hard to put a price on. Its primary function is self-explanatory – to keep your valuable items, important documents, and prized possessions safe and secure, regardless of where your adventures take you.

One of the greatest benefits of having a safe in your motorhome is the ability to keep your valuables hidden and protected. When you’re on the road, you might have passports, cash, jewelry, or other important items that you simply can’t afford to lose. These belongings can be conveniently stowed away in your safe, providing a level of protection that’s akin to having a personal vault right at your fingertips. It’s the ultimate reassurance, knowing that your treasured items are always within reach but out of sight from prying eyes.

Why is motorhome safe a good idea?

In essence, a safe in your motorhome is like a silent guardian, safeguarding your valuables and irreplaceable items as you embark on your journeys. It’s a priceless addition that enhances your overall travel experience, allowing you to explore the world with the peace of mind that comes from knowing your cherished belongings are secure and hidden away from harm’s reach. So, for the savvy motorhome traveler, a safe is not just a luxury; it’s an essential investment in both security and tranquility.

5. Refillable gas bottles

Refillable gas bottles are an absolute must-have for any serious motorhome enthusiast. Their importance cannot be overstated, as they are a cornerstone of comfort and convenience on the road. Without these refillable gas bottles, you’d be in for a host of potential inconveniences and challenges that could turn your motorhome adventure into a logistical nightmare.

Consider for a moment the analogy of running out of diesel. When your fuel gauge starts to dip, you need to find a gas station promptly. Now, imagine if you ran out of diesel while cruising down a remote, scenic road. It’s not just inconvenient; it can disrupt your entire trip and leave you stranded. The same principle applies to your gas bottles. Without refillable gas bottles, you’d constantly be worrying about running out of gas for cooking, heating, or other essential appliances. It’s an unexpected inconvenience that can put a damper on your otherwise carefree travels.

Moreover, think about the scenario of not being able to buy diesel in a foreign country, such as France. The language barrier, unfamiliar surroundings, and varying fuel regulations can turn what should be a straightforward refueling process into a frustrating and time-consuming experience. This is precisely what you’ll face without refillable gas bottles. These versatile containers ensure that you always have a readily available source of gas, regardless of your location. They eliminate the need to hunt for compatible gas canisters or adaptors, making your travels smoother and more enjoyable.

Why are refillable gas bottles great?

In summary, refillable gas bottles are the backbone of comfortable motor homing. They provide the peace of mind that you’ll never run out of gas unexpectedly, and you won’t have to navigate the complexities of foreign gas canister availability. With refillable gas bottles, you can focus on enjoying the journey, knowing that your essential gas needs are reliably met, enhancing the overall experience of life on the road.

“These are really the must-have motorhome accessories I’ll fit to my motorhome or van the first week I buy it.”

We have fit refillable gas bottle also in our Westfalia camper van that has a diesel heating. It is just a small 2.7kg Gaslow bottle for cooking, but it makes our life a lot easier. Any time we run out of gas, we will simply fill it up on the nearest petrol station with LPG. It works great also in Italy. A don’t forget that it costs about 4 EUR to fill up instead of paying 85 EUR for Campingaz bottle 😉

Extra tip for must-have motorhome accessories without a campsite

Motorhoming without a campsite in less touristy places is tempting. However, it still involves having to refill water or pour the toilet. Drinking water can be bought almost everywhere, spilling a chemical toilet is often a problem. We have found it very useful to buy a spare toilet cassette, it means we have doubled the number of days we can stay off the campsite. This is really one of the number one must-have motorhome accessories. You can put the cassette somewhere in your motorhome garage, for example.

Buy a spare toilet cassette, it costs up to EUR 100. Some brands of luxury motorhomes have a special place to put the spare toilet cassette.
