It won’t pay. It’s about 1000 times cheaper to go on an all-exclusive holiday where you’ll be stuffed 5 times a day and come back from the holiday 7 kilos heavier. It’s 100x cheaper to go to Croatia to an apartment than to crowd yourself in an overpriced campsite
“Despite all this, I love motorhomes and I’m not alone”
There are more motorhomes sold this year than in the last 4 years. People are willing to pay for a motorhome and wait a year and a half to get one. motorhoming is an addiction, it’s compromises, it’s freedom.
Freedom and the comforts of home
It’s probably that freedom that people will pay extra for. It’s travelling in the comfort of home. You sleep in your own bed, you eat whatever breakfast you feel like. There’s always a cold beer in the fridge
If you play sports, you take all your overpriced toys in the camper. Bikes, skis, surfboards. You have them with you all the time, you don’t have to borrow anything. Today’s motorhomes are fully usable not only in summer, but also in winter. The heating heats the inside of the motorhome to shorter temperatures. You don’t have to worry about freezing after skiing like in some guesthouses.
In our area, for historical reasons, many people have a cottage or lodge. That’s the way it is here. Such a cottage has drawbacks besides its (perhaps) increasing value. It needs looking after, it needs mowing around it and, most importantly, it is always in one place. Not many people have one cottage in the mountains and one by the sea
“A motorhome is such a small cottage and wherever you currently want to have it”
Will you use the motorhome at all?
People often ask me if they will ever use such a motorhome. Most people have about a month’s holiday at the moment. Of that, they save 2 weeks for the summer, some for the winter, and spend some of it on overcrowding during the holidays. It is also possible to use a motorhome for weekends. A trip to the mountains or to see the sights in the surrounding area. Trails by bike, skiing or a vegan halászle in Budapest. Use the motorhome every weekend.
Buying a motorhome is not a rational thing at all, nor is a holiday. It’s cheaper to sit at home on the balcony. Personally, however, I don’t think you will regret buying a motorhome
“Buy a motorhome as soon as possible. It doesn’t matter what model or year. As long as you travel”
What motorhome to buy if you don’t have 50k left?
Enjoy life every day. Experiences and time spent with people are the most valuable. Don’t save it for retirement. If you don’t want to invest 50 grand in a motorhome, buy an older one for 5.
Buy a motorhome. You may find that you enjoy travelling or living in an RV more than chasing a bigger apartment or a new house
Try a motorhome, you might find it’s better to buy a Mercedes Marco Polo than a new GLSko.
“I don’t know any man who has ever stopped motorhoming”
